This was one of several Comets used by the various British military trials and research organisations. It used radio callsign "MPDXA". Note also the Nimrod-style fin extension for enhanced stability. It was scrapped at Boscombe Down in 1997.

In use as a met research aircraft from Boscombe Down by RAE (and latterly DERA) from 1972 until March 2001, when it was replaced by BAe146-301 G-LUXE. Now in use by Marshalls of Cambridge as the TP400-D6 engine testbed for the Airbus A400M.
